We love volunteers! But we need more!
Our programs and projects have grown tremendously over the last several years thanks to the support of community members, business leaders and people like you!
To date 120 tutors and 25 lunch buddy (mentors) have served 28 Alamance-Burlington Schools and 3 agencies. Our 154 volunteers made a difference in over 134 students’ lives, totaling over 1,587 hours of service during the 2008-2009 school year.
Volunteer Opportunities
What is the primary responsibility of tutor?
A tutor is a person who gives individual or in some cases small groups instruction. The purpose of tutoring is to help students help themselves or to assist and guide them to the point at which they become an independent learner.
Who is a Lunch Buddy Mentor?
An individual who visits with the student during lunch, leading the child to talk about specific interest and his/her academic progress.
Who can Shadow a Principal for a day?
ACE is looking for community and business leaders to shadow a Principal in our schools. Each leader will spend 1/2 day with the Principal and following lunch the Principal will then shadow the leader. The goal is to share the challenges and successes of our schools and then for the business leader to share their needs well trained highly educated workforce.
What is needed for Classroom Closet?
Stocking, sorting and hosting are needed for the Classroom Closet. Volunteer times begin at 2:30 and are available until 7:00 pm Tues, Wed, Thurs. and an occasional Saturday
